SilverPlatter Transition: Program Overview

CSA and Ovid have been unable to reach agreement on the distribution of CSA databases through the SilverPlatter platform. From our perspective, the SilverPlatter platform appears to be static while other distribution services have been enhanced. It has also been increasingly difficult for us to serve the needs of consortia effectively through SilverPlatter.

Every effort was made on our part to implement a multi-year transition plan. In fact, we agreed to such a plan several months ago. Unfortunately, Ovid chose not to move forward with the plan.

In no way does this impact our agreement with other distributors (OCLC, NISC, and STN).

Program Overview

	This announcement impacts nine CSA databases terminating on the SilverPlatter platform over the next six months.
	CSA will honor the customer's current subscription rate for two years with no price increase for their database renewal through the Internet Database Service.
	If the list price of the equivalent database through the Internet Database Service is lower than the customer's subscription rate, the customer will be charged the lower Internet Database Service rate.
	SilverPlatter Updates - CSA will provide SilverPlatter with updates so that SilverPlatter can fulfill all current subscriptions to the end of all current customers' contracted period.
	Current SilverPlatter Subscribers to CSA Databases: CSA will provide complimentary access to the same databases through CSA's Internet Database Service (IDS) through the end of the customer's SilverPlatter subscription period.
	Expired SilverPlatter Subscribers to CSA Databases: For SilverPlatter customers whose subscriptions have expired or are expiring, CSA will provide complimentary 60-day access to equivalent databases through CSA's IDS.
